RSVPing campgrounds can be frustrating. LOL, I think that is the understatement of the day.

When I first started out, I would try calling campgrounds and would leave messages, if there was an option to leave a message. I was lucky if I got a call back from a message 1 out of 10 times. Many times, the phone would just ring constantly with no answer.

I then would try to make an online reservation using my phone. That was almost as frustrating as the constantly ringing phone or the no call back messages. Usually, the issue was that I couldn’t see the whole site using my phone so couldn’t complete the reservation or it not letting me put in the dates I wanted was another issue.

I tried my laptop, but the internet was not a strong signal and kept going in and out. I would almost get a reservation complete, and I would lose the connection. Ahhhh!

My frustration level was so high I gave up and called my daughter, the Queen of Reservations, and begged her to make reservations for me. I told her where I thought I would be. She acquiesced. The next day she called me just as frustrated. She was having some of the same issues that I was, and she had great internet! I didn’t feel so bad. She was finally able to get me some great reservations with the caviate that she was never doing this for me again, it took too much time!

I have gotten better at this whole reservation thing but doing it while you are on the road is really hard. I’ve found some of the best campgrounds aren’t advertised on the internet or on any of the group boards. They are just local gems. Flying by the seat of my pants (so to say) has landed me in a few Walmart parking lots but it has also allowed me the flexibility to veer off and head into a different direction if I see something that catches my interest. That for me is what this RVing is usually all about right now. This next trip is going to be pretty structured so the stops will be planned in advance and campgrounds reserved before I leave (my son will love that!) I will let you know how I liked it following the trip (I may be so frustrated that I have pulled all my wild hair out!)
