Researching What You Want

My brother, both sisters and numerous nieces and nephews have RVs, 5th wheels, TTs and truck campers.  I asked question after question until they were sick of me. I stayed in their campers as testing for myself which was the best way to learn what I liked.

I researched online, became members of different Facebook groups, and followed bloggers. Anything to see what people liked and didn’t like and to gather as much information as I could so that I could make an informed decision when buying an RV. 

I then made a spreadsheet of all the things that I wanted or felt was important to have in my RV. 

I figured that I would be able to use this to narrow down the types of RVs that I would look at in the showrooms. Once I was able to narrow down the types of RVs that I wanted to look at then I could take the spreadsheet with me to the showrooms with me to keep track of the models that I had looked at. 

What were some of my requirements? 

Solar, walk around bed, tankless water heater, back up camera that can be on all the time, diesel engine, bathroom separate from bedroom, refrigerator that can be run from electricity, propane, or solar, dry shower, propane generator, hitch, front swivel seats, drainage system, outdoor shower and shorter than 28’ so I would feel comfortable driving it. I plan on doing some boondocking, so I wanted my RV to be self-reliant using the least amount of water/propane/electricity as possible.

Know what type of recreational vehicle you want (Class A, B, C, 5th Wheel, Travel Trailer, Pop Up Camper, Van, Toy Hauler, or Truck Camper), and what your requirements might be and the reasons for those requirements will differ from mine. Make sure you understand how you will be using your unit so that you can narrow down your requirements and know what you should be looking for. Do your research so you know what the options are and what is available.
